Art and education play pivotal roles in the holistic development of underrepresented students and influence creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence. Integrating art programs enhances students' cognitive abilities, encouraging them to explore, express and understand complex concepts through a visual and imaginative lens.

For underrepresented students entering K-12, art serves as a powerful tool for self-expression, allowing students to communicate their thoughts and feelings in unique ways. This creates and maintains a sense of identity. Most importantly, arts and education nurture essential skills such as problem-solving and decision making, as students learn to make choices about colors, shapes and compositions.

Reading Activities are organized by Mentors with respect to age and reading level. Reading everyday creates an opportunity for  student improvement. Over the years, students are motivated to read by volunteers donating materials and/or quality time.

Student brainstorming activities encompass a variety of engaging techniques, including icebreakers and group discussions. Icebreakers and group discussions aim to create a comfortable atmosphere for students and staff. The main purpose of student brainstorming activities is to create a safe-zone for students and staff by mutually understanding the importance of safety. Student brainstorming activities address rules and expectations of the organization, this provides a solid foundation, framework, and thorough understanding of the facility, students and parents, tornado procedures and inclement weather, fire safety, and active shooter scenarios.

Ice breakers are facilitated by mentors and/or students are often used for summer program activities. Icebreakers and group discussions cover a variety of topics such as questions about art history and knowledge obtained during field trips. Group discussions encourage collaboration, allowing students to share ideas and build on each other’s thoughts.
